DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:

The teacher, under the guidance of the School Site Principal, delivers an educational program to students and supports various other school initiatives as directed.

It's essential to possess the ability to make decisions and execute job responsibilities in accordance with district standards.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:

Provides instruction in reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, health, art, physical education, music, and citizenship to students, following the curriculum approved by the Board of Education. Utilizes various learning activities aligned with the adopted course of study. Additionally, may offer instruction in a foreign language.
Creates structured learning experiences to inspire and engage students, effectively maximizing instructional time.
Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning

atmosphere in the classroom.

Assesses students' academic and social development, maintains accurate records, generates progress reports, and communicates with parents regarding each student's individual progress.
Identifies pupil needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and

helping pupils solve health, attitude and learning problems.

Collaborates with students to design a functional and visually appealing learning environment by creating displays, bulletin boards, and interest centers.
Performs basic attendance accounting and business services as required.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervises pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day.
Administers group standardized test in accordance with district testing program.
Selects and requisitions books, instructional aids and instructional supplies, and maintains required inventory records.
Insures a comfortable room environment through control of heating, lighting and ventilation to the extent possible.
Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs within the school of assignment and/or on the district level.
Shares in the sponsorship of student activities and participates in faculty committees.
Participates with other professional staff members in the social hygiene and outdoor education programs.
May plan and coordinate the work of aides, teacher assistants and other paraprofessionals.

EDUCATION AND CREDENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Appropriate credential as required by the District and the State for the position.

Frequency Key; None (1) Occasional - up to 25% of shift (2); Intermittently - up to 50% of shift (3); Frequently — up to 75% of shift (4)
