TK-12 DISTRICT TEACHER LEADER:

Title: TK-12 District Teacher Leader

Reports To: Educational Services Administrator

Department: Educational Services

Work Year: 189 Days per year

Classification: Certificated

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:

Working under the general guidance of an Educational Services Administrator and in coordination with the site administrator, supports teachers by providing the skills, knowledge, and assistance needed to effectively implement core instructional programs for grades TK-12.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES: Essential Duties

IMPLEMENTATION SUPPORT:

  • Plan, coordinate, and facilitate grade level or department team meetings.
  • Offer direct coaching to teachers regarding the implementation of core instruction, supplemental and intervention programs, and assessments for all students.
  • Provide Professional Learning, guidance, and support to teachers and paraprofessionals in core subject areas.
  • Act as a resource to teachers by providing additional research - based strategies and materials for use in the classroom with students.
  • Collaborate with other support teachers to facilitate implementation of all core and intervention programs.
  • Participate in walkthroughs and coordinate sharing of feedback.
  • Ensure complete implementation of the district's state-approved core English Language Arts, Mathematics, and intensive intervention programs for Transitional Kindergarten through 12th grade.
  • Facilitate the instructional delivery of current adopted programs and appropriate modifications for specific special education instrnctional settings.
  • Participate in the site leadership team and district leadership team to review data and develop actions to improve instructional practices at the site and district level.
  • At the secondary level, help the multidisciplinary team analyze progress monitoring data to meet the individual core instructional needs of all students, including those with disabilities.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

ASSESSMENT SUPPORT:

  • Provide training and guidance to teachers in administering appropriate assessments.
  • Assist teachers in analyzing and using assessment data.
  • Support completion of base program assessments.

INTERVENTION SUPPORT:

  • Coordinate delivery of intervention programs.
  • Support direct services to students as appropriate during intervention times.

PROFESSIONAL LEARNING:

  • Attend professional learning sessions 10 remain current on evidence-based instructional strategies.
  • Attend professional learning I and collaboration for Teacher Leaders.
  • Lead professional learning sessions for teachers and other identified staff.
  • Share information with site staff.

COMPLIANCE TASKS:

Collaborate with site leadership to support the implementation of the School Level Plan.

  • Coordinate the ordering and delivery of categorically funded materials to teachers. Coordinate School Site Council Meetings in collaboration with site leadership.
  • Support the implementation of standards based instruction for all students

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Experience with the effective use of technology in the classroom
  • Flexibility with working with a diverse student population and a variety of instructional personnel
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Excellent group leadership and facilitation skills
  • Effective use of Google applications, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint
  • Commitment to VCUSD Mission, Vision, Values and Goals
  • Must be familiar with spreadsheets and databases
  • Speak, read and write Standard English.
  • Ability to maintain record-keeping and report-writing.
  • Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy.
  • Experience in teaching reading.
  • Experience working with students who exhibit learning disabilities.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Three (3) years of successful classroom teaching experience.
  • Valid Clear California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, Single Subject Teaching Credential or Education Specialist Instruction Credential (M/M, MIS, DHH, VI, PHI, ECSE).
  • Valid California Driver's License.
  • Reading Specialist Certification, if applicable.
  • Resource Specialist Certificate, if applicable.
  • Clinical Rehabilitative Services Credential, if applicable.
  • Relevant certificates, experience or other credentials for specialized support & coaching

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Frequency Key; None (1) Occasional - up to 25% of shift (2);Intermittently - up to 50% of shift (3); Frequently — up to 75% of shift (4)
