DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:
A teacher is accountable for providing a comprehensive educational program to pupils under the direction of the School Site Principal and may be asked to participate in other school programs as requested.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
- Pupils receive education in diverse fields such as reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, health, art, physical education, music, and citizenship under the guidance of the teacher who instructs based on the curriculum authorized by the Board of Education and other appropriated educational content.
- Establishes structured learning opportunities to encourage pupils and make the most of time spent in class.
- Sets and maintains expectations for student behavior that are integral to establishing a positive and supportive learning community in the classroom.
- Monitors the academic and social progression of pupils, maintains precise documentation, compiles detailed progress reports, and maintains ongoing communication with parents to provide regular updates on individual student performance.
- In collaboration with other education professionals, assesses the needs of students and implements the required strategies to resolve health, attitude, and learning-related concerns.
- Works alongside students to build an enriching and attractive classroom atmosphere that features informative displays, creative bulletin boards, and interactive learning centers.
- Undertakes routine attendance record-keeping and administrative services as necessary.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collects and arranges for the delivery of books, instructional tools, and classroom resources, and documents inventory.
- Controls heating, lighting, and ventilation to the fullest extent possible to ensure a comfortable setting within the room.
- Directs students in extracurricular activities while on duty.
- The group standardized test is administered while following the testing program stipulated by the district.
- Contributes to the design and implementation of developmental programs at both the school and district level.
- Engages in sponsoring student affairs and contributes to faculty boards.
- It is my responsibility to plan and synchronize the work of paraprofessionals such as aides and teacher assistants.
- Joins forces with other professionals to carry out social hygiene and outdoor education programs.
EDUCATION AND CREDENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Appropriate credential as required by the District and the State for the position.
