DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:

A teacher provides instruction to students as directed by the School Site Principal and may also take on additional responsibilities related to school programs.

PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

The well-rounded educator respects and shows concern to their students, parents, colleagues, and administration. It takes great emotional stability, an open-minded disposition, fairness, consistency, and a good sense of humor to make a positive impact. Additionally, adherence to district regulations is important.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:

The teacher delivers teaching to pupils in a variety of subjects including reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, health, art, physical education, music, and citizenship by utilizing the curriculum approved by the Board of Education along with other appropriate learning methods.
Orchestrates planned educational experiences to engage students and efficiently utilize available instructional time.
Promotes and upholds guidelines for student behavior that are imperative for cultivating a healthy and constructive learning environment within the classroom.
Monitors the academic and social progression of pupils, maintains precise documentation, compiles detailed progress reports, and maintains ongoing communication with parents to provide regular updates on individual student performance.
Works closely with other professionals to identify the unique needs of pupils and develops strategies to improve their health, attitude, and overall learning experience.
Works together with students to create an immersive and visually stimulating classroom atmosphere, incorporating striking displays, informative boards, and interactive learning opportunities.
Executes basic attendance accounting and business support responsibilities as required.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Obtains and stocks up on books, instructional supplies, and teaching aids, with a requirement to maintain accurate inventory reports.
Controls heating, lighting, and ventilation to the fullest extent possible to ensure a comfortable setting within the room.
Provides supervision for students engaged in non-academic tasks throughout the working day.
The administration of the group standardized test is conducted according to the district's standard testing program.
Contributes to the success of district-wide educational initiatives by actively participating in planning and implementation efforts.
Supports student activities through investments and participates in faculty organizations.
As an assistant, I am tasked with coordinating and planning the work of paraprofessionals, such as teacher aides and assistants.
Engages in social hygiene and outdoor education activities together with fellow staff members.

EDUCATION AND CREDENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Appropriate credential as required by the District and the State for the position.
