About Vallejo High School
The city of Vallejo is located about 35 miles north of San Francisco, with a population of 125,000. Over the last two decades, Vallejo has become a bedroom community with many of our students’ parents commuting to the cities of San Francisco and Oakland for work. According to our 2020-21 data, 72% of our student population qualify for free and reduced lunch.
Vallejo High School is one of two comprehensive high schools in the Vallejo City Unified School District. It has a student population of approximately 1240 students. This year’s senior class has 271 students. Our student body is very diverse and includes 52% Hispanic or Latino, 25% African American, 12% Filipino, 7% White, and 4% other Asian, Pacific Islander, and Native American groups. More than 20 languages other than English are spoken at Vallejo High School as primary languages. Based on the home language survey and district testing, 368 students are designated as English learners, and 318 have been re-designated as Fluent English Proficient. The student population is predominantly first-generation college-bound with only 2.3% of parents reporting college completion.
