DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:

Under the supervision of the School Site Principal, the teacher is responsible for implementing an educational plan for students while also supporting other school initiatives as required.

PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Displays regard and care for pupils, guardians, colleagues and other administrative personnel. It is imperative to have an unbiased outlook, impartial treatment, dependability, affable humor and mental resilience to create a healthy environment.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:

  • Teaches reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, health, art, physical education, music and citizenship to pupils, utilizing course of study adopted by the Board of Education and other appropriated learning activities. May teach a foreign language.
  • The instructor strategically plans educational activities to encourage students and take full advantage of the allotted instructional period.
  • Maintains a conducive learning environment inside the classroom by setting and enforcing behavioral standards among students.
  • This duty comprises assessing students’ academic and social growth, keeping meticulous records, drafting progress reports, and consistently updating parents about their child’s progress.
  • Engages in assessing pupil needs and collaborates with other professionals to address academic, attitudinal, and health issues.
  • Aids in the assembly of a visually enticing and purposeful educational setting that encourages learning through imaginative exhibits, bulletin boards, and areas of interest.
  • Provides necessary business support services such as attendance tracking and accounting as required.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Chooses and requests books, educational materials, and teaching resources, while also keeping track of needed inventory on record.
  • Manages the room's heating, lighting and ventilation to achieve a comfortable atmosphere.
  • Maintains supervision of students during after-school events and excursions throughout the working day.
  • Provides group testing services that conform to the district's standardized testing procedures.
  • Facilitates the building of programs that enhance the curriculum and improve the educational opportunities in schools and the district.
  • Affords support to student gatherings and actively participates in committees comprised of faculty.
  • As a coordinator, I can manage the work of paraprofessionals, including aides and teacher assistants, to ensure effective classroom management and academic success.
  • Participates with other professionals in promoting social hygiene and outdoor education programs.

EDUCATION AND CREDENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Appropriate credential as required by the District and the State for the position.
