DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:

The teacher helps develop and execute an educational program for students under the supervision of the School Site Principal, and participates in other school endeavors as directed.

PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • By demonstrating respect, empathy, and professionalism, educators can foster strong collegial relationships that help them to reach the highest professional goals, positively motivate students, and promote academic excellence.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:

  • Educates students in a diverse range of subjects, including reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, health, art, physical education, music, and citizenship, through the use of the curriculum approved by the Board of Education, along with other appropriate educational methods, possibly encompassing foreign language instruction.
  • Creating structured educational opportunities is crucial for teachers in order to inspire and engage students, utilizing instructional time effectively.
  • The creation and enforcement of norms for student conduct are key elements in the achievement of academic goals

The ambiance that creates a conducive environment for education

  • Asseses the academic and personal development of pupils, maintains precise documentation, prepares progress reports, and communicates with parents to discuss student progress.
  • Actively seeks out and utilizes feedback from colleagues and parents to ensure that student needs are being met

By addressing health, attitude, and learning problems, teachers can empower students, improve outcomes, and contribute to a more positive learning environment.

  • Empowers students to take ownership of their learning environment by collaborating with them to create attractive and functional spaces utilizing displays, bulletin boards, and interest centers.
  • Handles basic attendance reporting and clerical tasks as required.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Makes informed decisions on the selection and acquisition of books, instructional aids and educational supplies, while maintaining updated records of stock.
  • Adjusts the heating, lighting, and ventilation systems as much as possible to ensure a comfortable and pleasant indoor environment.
  • During their assigned working hours, the assistant watches over students participating in out-of-classroom activities.
  • Conducts group standardized tests according to district-mandated testing program guidelines.
  • Joins other educators in developmental programs related to curriculum improvement at the assigned school or district-wide.
  • Invests in and promotes student activities while serving on faculty committees to aid in the success of academic initiatives.
  • The success of educational programs depends on the effective coordination of support staff; this is one of my primary responsibilities as a coordinator.
  • Contributes alongside other staff members to social hygiene and outdoor education programs.

EDUCATION AND CREDENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Appropriate credential as required by the District and the State for the position.
