DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:

The delivery of an educational program is the primary concern of the teacher, who, with the oversight of the School Site Principal, also participates in additional school programs as assigned.

PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

It's important for an educator to display respect and consideration for their fellow staff members, students, parents and administrators. Essential qualities during this include being open-minded, fair, consistent, having a pleasant disposition and being emotionally grounded.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:

The instructor imparts knowledge to students in a wide range of subjects which includes reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, health, art, physical education, music, and citizenship by utilizing the course of study approved by the Board of Education along with other appropriate learning activities.
Constructs planned educational activities to motivate learners and optimize the use of instructional time.
Establishes and enforces standards of student conduct that are essential to building a learning environment that is conducive to growth and success.
Tracks the academic and social growth of pupils, maintains appropriate records, generates thorough progress reports, and engages in regular communication with parents to provide updates on individual student achievements.
Collaborates with fellow professionals to identify and address the specific needs of pupils, including those related to their learning, health, and attitudes.
Works together with pupils to create a functional and inviting learning space, which includes thought-provoking displays, informative announcement boards, and interactive activity areas.
Executes fundamental attendance-related bookkeeping and administrative duties as necessary.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Chooses and acquires teaching materials, supplies, and resources, with the added responsibility of keeping inventory records.
Maintains comfortable living quarters by monitoring and adjusting the heating, lighting, and ventilation as necessary.
Assumes responsibility for students during school-sponsored events which occur during work hours.
In compliance with the district's testing program, the group standardized test is administered.
Takes part in educational activities and developmental initiatives both at the school level and district level.
Provides financial aid for student endeavors and collaborates in faculty councils.
Part of my job description involves supervising and coordinating the tasks of teacher aides, assistants, and other support personnel.
Participates in social hygiene and outdoor education programs in conjunction with other staff members.

EDUCATION AND CREDENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Appropriate credential as required by the District and the State for the position.
