DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:

A teacher is accountable for providing a comprehensive educational program to pupils under the direction of the School Site Principal and may be asked to participate in other school programs as requested.

PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Traits such as fairness, level-headedness, and good humor are important in an educator who values and shows concern for their students, their pupils' guardians, their colleagues, and their administrative associates.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:

Utilizing the course of study approved by the Board of Education and other appropriate teaching aids, the instructor teaches students in reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, health, art, physical education, music, and citizenship while giving appropriate importance to each subject.
Implements organized educational plans to excite learners and efficiently utilize class time.
Establishes and garners compliance with guidelines for student conduct to cultivate an optimal environment for learning within the classroom.
Evaluates the academic and social progress of students, maintains accurate documentation, prepares detailed progress reports, and communicates regularly with parents to keep them informed about individual student performance.
Coordinates with other education professionals to identify the distinctive needs of pupils and implements action plans to help them overcome academic, behavioral, and health-related issues.
With the assistance of students, creates a dynamic and inviting learning environment through the incorporation of captivating displays, informative bulletin boards, and interactive learning stations.
Implements necessary attendance bookkeeping and administrative services as needed.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Picks out and acquires books, teaching aids, and instructional materials while keeping track of inventory.
Provides a pleasant room environment by controlling the heating, lighting, and airflow to the fullest extent feasible.
Assumes responsibility for students during school-sponsored events which occur during work hours.
The district testing program is followed while administering the group standardized test.
Engages in school and district-wide initiatives designed to promote educational development and growth among students.
Engages in sponsoring student affairs and contributes to faculty boards.
It is within the scope of my responsibilities to oversee and arrange the tasks of aides, teacher assistants, and other paraprofessionals.
Engages in social hygiene and outdoor education programs with fellow staff members.

EDUCATION AND CREDENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Appropriate credential as required by the District and the State for the position.
